Lisa Smith

A Division I athlete and coach for almost thirty years, Coach Lisa brings a wealth of wisdom and experience to the St. James Volleyball Club. As a college player, she was conference Rookie of the Year, 4-time First Team All Conference, and 2-time Conference Player of the Year. She was the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) Athlete of the Year and was inducted into their athletic Hall of Fame. As a coach, she coached across all U12-U18 ages and levels in club, high school, and private lesson settings. Coach Lisa is so excited to coach alongside her husband, Steve, with the St. James 12 Navy team this season! She is CAP I and IMPACT certified and attended multiple GMS and AOC coaching courses over the years. Her passion is to teach young athletes the sport she loves while emphasizing the importance of hard work, dedication, and teamwork. Lisa & Steve have three children, all volleyball players: Logan (Johnson & Wales University, 2021-2023), Madison (freshman at Brown University), & Derek (freshman at Randolph College).
