Heather Owens

Heather brings nearly a decade of coaching experience and a passion for developing athletes to St. James, where she will serve as an Assistant Coach. Her coaching philosophy centers on creating a positive, competitive, and supportive environment where athletes are encouraged to grow both on and off the court. She strives to build teams grounded in commitment, confidence, accountability, and teamwork while helping each athlete reach their full potential.

Heather’s coaching experience spans a variety of ages and competitive levels, including both club and high school volleyball. She has coached club teams at the 14s, 15s, and 18s levels, providing athletes with experience and guidance throughout different stages of their development.

At the high school level, Heather previously served as the Girl’s Varsity Head Coach at Osbourn High School and as an Assistant Varsity Coach for the Girl’s Volleyball at Forest Park High School. She now serves as the Varsity Assistant Coach for the Boy’s Volleyball at Forest Park High School, bringing her experience and passion for the game to both girls’ and boys’ volleyball while continuing to help athletes grow and compete at a high level.

Heather moved to Northern Virginia in 2015 to attend Marymount University, where she earned her Master’s degree in Forensic and Legal Psychology. She currently works as a Program Analyst for the Department of Justice. Outside of her professional and coaching responsibilities, Heather enjoys staying active and embracing a variety of physical activities, adventures, and opportunities to be outdoors.
