Alex Campbell

Alex Campbell uses his life-long knowledge and passion for the game as his foundation to help grow the sport in communities and in athletes of all ages.  Starting as a Division 1 libero prospect at St. Francis University and pivoting to Carnegie Mellon University to play Division 3 collegiate club volleyball, Alex understands how volleyball and personal decisions intersect and how impactful the sport can be for young athletes.

As a coach, Alex has had the privilege to lead teams of all levels and instill his philosophy of growth through consistent effort along with his positive attitude.  He started his career as assistant coach for the Carnegie Mellon Women’s Varsity program and the head coach for Carnegie Mellon’s Women’s Club Volleyball program. After graduating, his career landed him in North Carolina where he led the high school volleyball program for Halifax Academy for 5 years with 2 separate NC State Championship Tournament bids.

Since arriving in Northern Virginia in 2019, Alex has been able to broaden his knowledge of the game even further, playing competitively in Men’s Indoor, grass, and beach volleyball leagues and tournaments.  His coaching knowledge has also been expanded through coaching middle school leagues at St. Bernadette’s Catholic School, coaching and spear-heading the first boys’ beach volleyball program for the Alexandria Titans Club teams, and most recently with The St. James as a program coach for a third year.  Coach Alex strives to impart the importance of personal development and resilience necessary to succeed.
