Randy Cooper is a respected leader who has guided The St. James Aquatics and Safety & Rescue Department since its inception. Born and raised in Prince William County, his commitment to safety began as a lifeguard in Lake Ridge, VA, and has grown through extensive experience with Prince William County Fire & Rescue, Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center, and Arlington Public Schools Aquatics.
Randy holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Science along with multiple fire and rescue certifications, bringing deep expertise in emergency response, risk management, and aquatics operations. In his dual role as Director of Aquatics and Chief of Safety & Rescue, he oversees all aquatics facility systems and programming, leads the Lifeguard and Safety & Rescue Teams, and serves as the lead instructor for safety training and certification courses.
Under his leadership, the department has earned two life-saving awards from Fairfax County Fire & Rescue—reflecting his unwavering commitment to excellence and the safety of every member and guest.
