Cosmo DiFazio is a software developer and swim coach from Charlottesville, Virginia, with more than a decade of experience both as a competitive swimmer and as a coach. With extensive time spent on deck, Cosmo brings a thoughtful, detail-oriented approach to athlete development and training.
Cosmo has coached and competed across multiple leagues, including USA Swimming, the Jefferson Swim League, and the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association (VISAA). Since 2018, he has led his former high school swim team, guiding the program to two state championships and seven conference championships. His coaching experience spans a wide range of athletes and competitive levels, allowing him to adapt training to meet individual needs.
Cosmo’s coaching philosophy emphasizes intentional practice and strong technical foundations. He prioritizes stroke technique and efficient movement before focusing on speed, favoring drill-based practices over excessive yardage. This approach helps reduce the risk of overtraining and injury while making practices accessible and productive for swimmers of all skill levels.
Now returning for another season at The St. James, Cosmo is excited to continue working with the swimmers and coaching staff. He greatly enjoyed leading afternoon practices during the previous long course season and looks forward to building on that momentum in the fall. Cosmo is committed to helping each swimmer enjoy the process, grow in confidence, and achieve their individual goals in the pool.
