Maurice Bankston

Maurice Bankston brings deep experience with player development and building competitive baseball programs across high school, collegiate, and professional levels to The St. James.
Bankston most recently spent multiple seasons at Georgetown University, where he served as Director of Player Development and worked extensively with the pitching staff. During his tenure, Georgetown produced one of the most successful runs in program history, earning four consecutive BIG EAST Tournament appearances from 2022–2025 and advancing to the program’s first-ever BIG EAST Championship Finals in 2024. That season, the Hoyas set a program record with 36 wins while establishing multiple single-season pitching marks and earning national recognition, including leading the country in conference ERA.
During Bankston’s time on the hilltop, Georgetown pitchers earned numerous accolades, including a BIG EAST Pitcher of the Year award, All-American honors, and multiple All-BIG EAST selections. His impact extended to the professional level, with several pitchers selected in the MLB Draft, including the highest draft pick in program history, who went on to make his Major League debut in 2024.
In 2025, Bankston was part of a select group invited to participate in Major League Baseball’s Coaching Development Program, where he worked with the Surprise Saguaros in the Arizona Fall League.
Bankston also served as the Head Coach of the DC Grays for the 2023 and 2024 summer seasons in the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League, one of the top collegiate summer leagues in the Mid-Atlantic.
Prior to his time at Georgetown, Bankston spent eight seasons as the varsity pitching coach at St. Albans School in Washington, D.C., where he helped lead the program to multiple conference championships and a District of Columbia state title while mentoring numerous players who advanced to the collegiate level.
A native of Crossett, Arkansas, Bankston played six seasons of professional baseball, including five in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization after being selected in the eighth round of the 2007 MLB Draft out of Texarkana College, where he earned All-American honors.
In addition to his coaching career, Bankston has extensive experience mentoring young people in educational and behavioral support settings, reflecting his commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the field.
