bio

Coach Katherine Thompson is a highly experienced field hockey coach with a strong focus on developing players both on and off the field. With seven seasons of coaching under her belt, she has led teams to impressive accomplishments, including a second-place finish at the Disney Showcase and a first-place victory at the National Indoor Tournament.

Her coaching philosophy centers on building a strong foundation in stickwork, fostering a relentless work ethic, and—most importantly—ensuring that players have fun. Coach Katherine is passionate about instilling a love for the game in every athlete, just as she has loved it throughout her own journey.

As a former collegiate player at Goucher College, she played left back and had the unique opportunity to travel to Argentina, where she trained under the Head Coach of Argentina’s Olympic team—an experience that deepened her understanding and appreciation of the sport.

Beyond the field, Coach Katherine serves as a U.S. Government employee specializing in Human Relations, with multiple deployments to the Middle East. She is a field hockey umpire for USA field hockey and NFHS. She is also a proud dog mom and an enthusiastic world traveler, having visited more countries than U.S. states.
