Hernan Colmenarez is a baseball coach and Director of Player Development at The St. James Academy, bringing real professional playing experience and a deep passion for developing athletes at every stage of their journey. Originally from Barquisimeto, Venezuela, Hernan signed with the Minnesota Twins in 2010 and pitched in their minor league system before continuing his professional career with the Rio Grande Valley White Wings. After years on the mound, he transitioned into coaching to pass on his knowledge and experience to the next generation of players.

At The St. James, Coach Hernan specializes in high-performance training for youth, travel, and professional MiLB and MLB athletes, with a strong focus on pitcher and catcher development. His approach emphasizes proper mechanics, body control, injury prevention, mental performance, and advanced hitting, fielding, and pitching systems. Known for his hands-on and encouraging coaching style, he connects effectively with athletes of all experience levels, helping bridge the gap between development and competition.

Beyond on-field coaching, Hernan is a certified sports agent and serves as Vice President at SCS Rep Sports, where he represents professional athletes. This off-field experience allows him to mentor players with a broader perspective, guiding them not only in skill development but also in understanding long-term pathways in the game. In recognition of his expertise, Hernan has been invited by USA Baseball for two consecutive years to lead coaching clinics at Nationals Park. Whether working with young athletes just starting out or players preparing for the next level, Coach Hernan is committed to building confidence, sharpening skills, and helping players understand the bigger picture of what baseball can offer.
