Dominique Nelson joined The St. James (STJ) Field Hockey Club coaching staff in 2023 and immediately made a significant impact within the program. In her first year as a head coach, she led both the U16 and U19 teams to qualification for the National Indoor Tournaments, showcasing her ability to develop competitive teams and prepare athletes for high-level play. Her coaching approach emphasizes technical development, game intelligence, and athlete confidence, shaped by her own experience competing at the highest levels of the sport.

In addition to her club coaching role, Nelson served as an assistant coach at the Academy of the Holy Cross in Bethesda, Maryland during the Fall 2025 season, where she worked closely with student-athletes in a competitive high school environment. Her experience across club, academy, and high school settings has given her a well-rounded perspective on long-term athlete development and the recruiting process.

As a player, Nelson competed in NCAA Division I field hockey at Towson University, where she distinguished herself both on the field and academically. She earned recognition on the All-CAA Commissioner’s Honor Roll all semesters. Nelson graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management, complemented by a minor in Business Administration.

New Jersey native, Nelson was a standout athlete at Piscataway High School, where she was a four-year varsity starter and team captain. Throughout her high school career, she earned numerous individual honors, including 2015 Rookie of the Year, three-time First Team All-Conference selection, two-time NJ.com Greater Middlesex Conference Player of the Year, and three-time All–North Jersey Field Hockey Team honors. She was named Team MVP twice and concluded her high school career with 51 goals and 21 assists, leaving a lasting legacy within the program.

Beyond athletics, Nelson is also a successful entrepreneur. She founded Allure Beauty Co. in 2019, which has grown into a thriving and expanding business. Her work as a business owner reflects the same dedication, discipline, and leadership that define her coaching philosophy, making her a strong role model for the student-athletes she mentors.
